Project: Deadline

Posted by Amanda on October 19th, 2006

Just finished Googling the life cycle of a Cheeto? Become a paper mache wizard? Looks like you’re a candidate for some structure in the ol’ writing life. Four times a year, RATS will have the opportunity to observe some real writing deadlines.

Here’s how things will go down:

  • You sign up to read a manuscript (no more than 40 pages of prose per deadline; 20 for poetry)
  • You commit to typing up a few pages of feedback
  • You turn in your manuscript on the next deadline:
    1. March 1st, 2007
    2. June 1st, 2007
    3. October 1, 2007
    4. December 1, 2007
You won’t know who you read or who reads you, which will give all of us a chance to have nonfriends tell us how amazing we are without the awkward obligation. RATS can join anytime throughout the year. And once a manuscript swap is complete, just e-mail if you’d like to fall off the deadline wagon.

Everyone wants to know about Cheetos, but we’d rather read your book instead.
